The Scarlet Pimpernel : Broadway's Most Intriguing Musical.

SP2 - The Revised Production

The revised show - SP2 - began performances on 10 October and had an official opening date of 4 November 1998. Douglas Sills remained in the title role, and was joined by Rachel York and Rex Smith. Many other cast members changed, while others remained with the show.

A new recording was prepared and released, to reflect the changes in the show. Titled "Encore!", it features tracks from the Original Broadway Cast reorganized into the new order in which they are now performed in the show. Rachel York and Rex Smith each recorded two new tracks which were added to the album ("Storybook", "Falcon In The Dive", "Where's The Girl?" and "I'll Forget You"). The album also has two bonus tracks.

In early 1999, it was learned that Pimpernel would need to vacate the Minskoff Theatre to make way for Saturday Night Fever. SP2 closed on 30 May 1999. But this still wasn't the end for the show...
